In order to make hires work, two important dates had to be introduced:

A commencement date, when the hire is deemed to have begun
A termination date, when the hired goods are returned to the client

A complicated invoicing algorithm allows users of PHOCUS to choose to send out consolidated or fully itemised invoices, by ticking the amounts to be invoiced and then clicking on a single button.

Finally, the hires system will not let anyone invoice hires in a month until all of the previous month's terminated hires have been received back at the factory.
