Choosing custom software - what to look for

Choosing software is a minefield. Wise Owl think the process is a bit like choosing a plumber to fit a new boiler - you have no idea how to contact someone, you don't really know what you're looking for and you've no guarantee that the person you choose will be any good!
However, in certain ways choosing a software supplier is even harder than that:
-
Your plumber won't be the only person who can help you when your boiler fails
-
Plumbers don't have to understand how your house works before they can help you
-
Plumbers - by and large - speak English, not technobabble
With all of this in mind, we have created a short guide to choosing a software supplier. These pages show you the stages of a typical software project, some traps to avoid, and above all how much the whole think will cost. Please follow one of these links:
There are sharks to avoid in the software water - it's as well to know as much as you can before to avoid meeting them!
